Live Theater

Performances are an important part of a dancer’s training. Live performances give dancers an opportunity to learn choreography, to work with other dancers to create patterns on the stage, and even to act! Dancers of the Vacaville Ballet Company School will have several opportunities for live performances each school year, including The Nutcracker and a Spring production.

Dancers ages 3-5 must have at least 1 semester of training at VBC School in order to participate. Dancers ages 9 and up who are not enrolled in the VBC School may be invited to participate if space allows. If you are not enrolled, email to determine the appropriate audition time.

Production fees are $125 for all dancers enrolled in the VBC School (fees for Character roles or outside students vary). Production fees are non-refundable. Production fees cover the cost of rehearsals and your costume rental.

Rehearsals are held every Saturday except for holiday weekends. Youngest dancers will rehearse for 30-60 minutes/day and older dancers will rehearsal 1.5 hours+, depending on role. Dancers are allowed up to 3 absences.

Dancers will be cast in all shows or half of the shows, depending on age and skill. The majority of dancers will be required to miss at least 1 day of school for student matinee performances (SMAT).

All parents will be asked to commit to volunteering backstage for at least 1 performance. All volunteers are required to undergo a background check. More information will be discussed at the parent meeting held once rehearsals begin.
