VBC’s COVID-19 Response
Like all arts organizations, we are working hard to recover from the damage the last 2 years has done to the arts community and our organization. While our Spring productions bring us so much joy, it is truly Nutcracker that supports us financially for an entire season. We were thrilled with the success of Nutcracker 2021, but unfortunately, it was not enough to help us fully recover. Therefore, the Vacaville Ballet Company will not be presenting a Spring production in 2022. This was a very difficult decision but after weighing several factors, we feel it is in the best interest for the long term survival of this organization to preserve our resources at this time.
As of January 15, 2022, the California Department of Public Health has declared that indoor “mega events” are 500 people or more (down from 1,000 people or more). VPAT performances are now considered “mega events,” triggering vaccination and testing requirements for all who enter the venue. More can be read about VPAT’s new requirements on their website. VBC will be updating our COVID policies to reflect these changes in order to continue our 28 year history at VPAT.
Lastly, after 9 years, VBC will be going our separate way from our Artistic Director, Cassandra Kamakeeaina. We part ways with sincere gratitude for her service to the non-profit organization, not only as an Artistic Director, but also as a young instructor for many years prior. She brought her unique vision and creativity to all of our projects and we can’t begin to express our appreciation for her contributions to the arts community in Vacaville.
We know there are many questions and uncertainties and we look forward to addressing everything along this new branch of our journey. All information regarding our future plans will be posted here to our website in the coming weeks. We will post to our social media and send emails as new information is updated on the website.
Finally, we’d like to thank you all for your continued support of VBC. We have weathered many storms in our 28 year history and we hope to continue doing so for another 20+ years. Rest assured, we remain committed to our mission of arts education and promoting arts appreciation in the Vacaville community through performances and community outreach projects. We look forward to the prospect of what our future holds!
