Open Beginning Ballet

Ages 15 years and up

1 day/week

This class is designed for the adult or teen dancer who is interested in learning ballet for the first time or who is ready to return to the barre and re-develop their skills. Have fun while enjoying the many health and recreation benefits of ballet. Classes are billed on a drop-in basis.

Schedule: Wednesdays 5:15-6:30pm

Pre-Pointe / Pointe Class

Ages 13 years and up

This class is designed for the dancer looking to build strength for pointe work and/or to promote to pointe. Dancers must have approval to be en pointe by their primary ballet teacher or have a pointe assessment. VBC will contact their primary ballet teacher to receive confirmation that they are participating in a minimum of 2 hours of ballet technique and a total of 4 hours of dance technique per week. Dancers do not need to be enrolled in VBC School ballet classes.

Schedule: Fridays 6:45-8:00pm

Adaptive Ballet Class

Ages 5 and up

60 minutes/class

An Adaptive Ballet class is designed to allow the body to move more freely while still learning Ballet technique. Students will be introduced to classic Ballet terms, positions, and steps, but will then be modified to encourage fuller movement and participation in ways students and teachers alike may not know were possible. The goals in an adaptive class would be to develop independence, balance, self-confidence, and a love for music and creative movement, as well as learn how to express themselves through movement. Not only will they develop these, an adaptive class can build muscle strength and endurance, increase/improve coordination, aid in Cognitive Development, improve posture, strengthen joints, and learn various patterns in music and movement.
