Participation in VBC Productions is open to the public. Auditions are held semi-annually for our Winter and Spring Productions. We encourage interested families to read all the information on this page to understand the commitments and obligations of participating in a VBC Production. We look forward to having you join us!

How to Audition
IMPORTANT COVID INFORMATION
We have done our best to prepare for a production in December with the ongoing changes related to the COVID-19 pandemic. We ask that all families understand the situation is fluid and VBC reserves the right to make changes to auditions, rehearsals, classes, events, and productions as needed to comply with all State and local orders.
All participants will be required to agree to all VBC COVID-19 policies in order to participate. Current guidelines are fluid and may change by December. Read VBC’s COVID-19 policies here.
Guidelines have been established in accordance with CDC and CalOSHA recommendations as well as policies set forth by the Vacaville Performing Arts Theatre. VPAT will be strictly adhering to maximum occupancy numbers, which may impact our cast size. At this time, we are opening Nutcracker 2021 auditions to dancers ages 5 and up. Supporting roles may be triple cast. As of July, 2021, all participants must be masked, regardless of vaccination status.
1. Register online via our Parent Portal
All participants are required to register for auditions online via our Parent Portal. If you are new to the portal, you will be required to set up an account and add your dancer before you can register. Audition registration is broken up into groups according to age. Participants will later use the portal to register for the production, pay production fees, and order supplies, etc.
2. Pay $25 application fee
A non-refundable $25 application fee will apply to all interested participants, regardless of role type. This will be paid via the Parent Portal when you register for the audition. Application fees help to cover the theater rental and other costs related to running auditions.
3. Complete online application form
All performers must complete an online application form prior to auditioning. If you are unable to attend the audition in person, you must have your application form submitted prior to the audition in order to be considered. By auditioning, you are agreeing to be considered for and cast in roles as determined by the Artistic Director. Auditioning does not guarantee casting.
These policies and expectations are designed to ensure the running of a smooth production and for the safety of our performers and volunteers. We aim to provide a positive experience for you, your family, and our patrons while aiming to preserve the traditions of ballet and the theater. Any infractions of these policies and expectations may be grounds for removal from current and future productions.
